Ding Dong! AVON Calling!
ANEW magazine and the ANEW Women’s Expo to change names
Madison, Wis.: Kristin Erickson, president of Erickson Publishing, has announced that her company is changing the name of both ANEW magazine, a glossy magazine for women which reaches more than 60,000 readers every month, and the ANEW Women’s Expo, an annual event which welcomes approximately 8,000 attendees each November. The name changes come after reaching an amicable agreement with AVON.
“When my company, Erickson Publishing, first launched ANEW magazine in 2002, we conducted name searches in the state of Wisconsin as well as searches for magazine titles throughout the country,” says Erickson. “Although we had certainly heard of the ANEW line of skin care products produced by AVON, we were unaware there would be a potential for confusion between a magazine called ANEW and a line of cosmetic products.
“Now, after discussions with AVON, we have realized there could, indeed, be a potential for confusion. Therefore, we are changing both the name of ANEW magazine and the name of our ANEW Women’s Expo. The ANEW Women’s Expo will now be called the Madison Women’s Expo; the new name of ANEW magazine, which will become effective on November 1, 2006, will be announced in several months. We will also be asking our readers for input regarding the magazine’s new name.”
The Madison Women’s Expo will take place at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19. This year’s gala event will feature Deidre Hall, who plays “Marlena” on the hit TV soap opera, “Days of our Lives,” and Rosanne Cash, the grammy-award winning singer (and daughter of legend Johnny Cash), who will delight audience members with a rare acoustic performance.
More information can be found about the Madison Women’s Expo as well as brava magazine by visiting the company web site at www.ericksonpublishing.com.
“We wish AVON the best with their ANEW skin care line of products and look forward to a long, successful future bringing both the Madison Women’s Expo as well as our monthly glossy magazine for women to our readers,” says Erickson. “The name changes will not reflect content in any way. We plan to continue our tradition of doing the very best we can to make each issue, and event, better than ever.”
